A highschool classmate of mine submitted some photos for the Face-a-Day project and I liked this pensive, sensual pose the best. After my flurry of sketching is complete, I take a step back and make comparisons. I find it interesting how I inevitably caricature (unintentionally) some areas. This time it’s her chin. By this immediate fast drawing I’m able to analyze my instincts in retrospect. When I paint, it’s a much more extensive process of seeing and fixing.
This is not too shabby for a 29 minute drawing off of a phone picture though!
